Porsche 997.1 Servicing & Known Issues

The Porsche 997.1 (2004–2008) delivers an analogue driving experience with modern performance. However, these cars have several well-known maintenance considerations:

  • IMS Bearing Wear – A potential cause of major engine failure. We offer IMS inspection and upgrade services, often combined with clutch replacement.

  • Bore Scoring – Common on 3.8L Carrera S models. We provide boroscope inspections, oil analysis, and full engine rebuild solutions where needed.

  • Rear Main Seal (RMS) Leaks – We replace RMS with the latest-spec seals, often alongside a clutch change.

  • Coolant Pipe Leaks – Replacement with OEM or upgraded lines.

  • Suspension Wear – Control arms, dampers, and bushes degrade over time — we offer full refresh and geometry setup.

  • Exhaust System Corrosion – OEM replacement or performance exhaust upgrade options available.

We offer a 997.1 Health Check combining PIWIS diagnostics and a full mechanical inspection to spot issues early.

Porsche 991.1 Servicing & Known Issues

The Porsche 991.1 (2011–2016) was the first 911 to introduce a longer wheelbase and updated interior, and in Carrera form still uses the naturally aspirated flat-six. While more modern than the 997, these cars have a few common concerns:

  • Coolant Leaks – Water pump and coolant pipe failures are not uncommon. We supply and fit updated components.

  • PDK Gearbox Servicing – Fluid and filter changes are essential to maintain smooth shifts and avoid premature wear.

  • Clutch Wear on Manual Models – Particularly on higher-mileage or spiritedly driven cars; we offer OEM and upgraded clutch kits.

  • Rear Main Seal (RMS) and Front Crank Seal Leaks – Early detection and replacement prevents oil contamination of clutch/PDK components.

  • Suspension Bush Wear – Affecting ride quality and geometry; replacement with OEM or uprated bush kits available.

  • Brake Disc Corrosion – Common on low-mileage or stored cars; we can replace or upgrade to performance discs and pads.

Our 991.1 servicing packages follow Porsche factory intervals and use genuine or OEM-approved parts to preserve performance and resale value.

Porsche 991.2 Servicing & Known Issues

The Porsche 991.2 (2016–2019) introduced the turbocharged 3.0L flat-six for Carrera models, delivering improved torque and efficiency. This generation also brought updated electronics and infotainment, but it has its own set of considerations:

  • Turbocharger Cooling Lines – Corrosion or leaks can develop over time; we inspect and replace where needed.

  • Intercooler and Boost Pipe Issues – Boost leaks can cause performance drops; our pressure testing ensures airtight performance.

  • PDK Servicing – Regular fluid and filter changes keep the gearbox in peak condition, especially on Turbo and GTS models.

  • Carbon Build-Up – Direct injection engines can suffer from intake valve deposits; we offer walnut blasting to restore airflow and performance.

  • Suspension and PASM Damper Wear – We offer OEM replacements or upgraded performance units.

  • Exhaust Valve Actuator Failures – Common on cars with sports exhaust; we can repair or replace actuators for full system function.

The 991.2 is one of the most capable and versatile 911s ever built, and our preventative maintenance approach ensures these cars remain reliable and exciting for years to come.
